It was on a beautiful Saturday evening, we went out with some friends just to have a nice time. The evening was filled with fun, laughter and several photo sessions. As we rounded up and got ready to leave, he took me by surprise by going on one knee with a beautiful ring in his hand. The only words my brain could process at that moment from all he said was “MARRY ME”. I screamed in amazement and then said YES over and over again.

Gentle, handsome and young are the first things you see when you look at him. He is a friend like none other, with a large heart and godly character. True love actually does exist when you have a man like Nonso.
In the month of February, I was all by myself in my office, with lots of work-load when Nonso walked in and asked why I was looking so serious and unhappy. I responded by asking him jokingly, “what exactly do you want”? and his response was “it’s a beautiful morning and I thought to just pop in, say ‘hello’ and leave but you look like you need some care. So, what’s your plan for Thursday night, can we hangout”? I nodded as usual and wasn’t really expecting anything as we’ve had several dates and outings as platonic friends. However, I observed he wanted this date more than ever, and that got me thinking…
Dinner was over and it looked like every other dinner or lunch we’ve had together, full of fun and laughter. I thanked Nonso so much for his thoughtfulness, saying “You care and love genuinely and your qualities are rare. You’re always ready to help anyone, and you’re a proof that godly men still exist out there. Thank you for the unique friendship we share, God bless you…”
Nonso didn’t wait for me to land before he started his own story (lol). He said “Amaka, I’ve known you for about 7 years now as a friend and someone I could tell anything. I’ve come to enjoy true friendship and sincerity. I love you effortlessly. Everything about me loves you and I know you love me too, so let’s make something out of this; will you marry me? I was dazed (cos that was so unexpected), so I asked for time to ponder over it. Weeks later, I said “YES” to his proposal, and he kicked off the marriage plans immediately.

I have enjoyed a beautiful and reserved life…
When I moved to Lagos after graduation, little did I know that I would find love in a place like Lagos. There were lots of beautiful people here, but I wanted the best, one who is polished with Christian character before beauty; and I found both in Amaka.
I met Amaka in 2009, looking so young and gorgeous; I felt something for her from that moment. Beyond the pretty face and sweet voice, she was God-fearing, hardworking, caring and a friend. She was all I ever wanted in a woman.
We started going out then but it didn’t last, however; we remained friends ever since. When I was ready for marriage, I prayed to God for direction and I knew that no one would make a better partner than ‘The Friend’ I’ve known for over six years.
I approached Amaka and told her of my intentions. She asked for some time to think it through. Weeks later, she said ‘YES’.
It’s obvious we’re built for each other. We started our marriage processes, and here we are.
She is a gift to me and by God’s grace; our future is so bright together. I’m bold to say that she’s more beautiful and radiant today because of the love and joy that we share.
